Cheeseminer & family
Once a year, typically in May, the FWR plays host to a charity fund raising gathering of GRC friends. This page provides information for anyone coming, and somewhere to put the photos! |
What?
For the past couple of years we've opened our garden and it's railway to groups and neighbours (not truly 'the public') to enjoy the trains, and tea and biccies, and to raise some funds for a local charity. It's a slightly odd mix but seems to work well. For GRC, this is simply an opportunity to meet and play. The charity we support is the Cambridge Central Aid Society, a small but valuable charity that helps needy individuals and families who fall between the gaps in the state social support system, with small, carefully targeted grants.Logistics
The FWR is a large loop with a passing loop, and a branch leading down to the dockside sidings. 45mm Peco. Track power is not available on these days. No tunnels. The only borderline clearance is the girder bridge but I've some very large loco's so I don't expect that to be an issue. Indeed, the only issue ever experienced was the back-to-back of some LGB coaches not being happy with the guard rails of the points.Video
Apparently the FWR has a youtube 'channel', whatever one of those is. Something to drain unwanted videos out?

The dock and harbour area just gets better and better. The muddy sandy effect is superb and the photo doesn't do it justice.

Doug's boxcar passes. Looks great and a shame you can't hear the sound.
