Naturally that includes the 'garden' part of garden railways, including plants, planting, and groundworks including water features. 

Also included here are the "built" aspects of the environment, houses, stations, sheds, bridges, mines, docks, mills, etc. - and the smaller but distinctive infrastructure such as signals, telegraph poles, etc..

Part of that same world are the people, boats and cars, animals, and so on.
