Baldwin Locomotive Works locos in the Garden
The Baldwin Locomotive Works was an American builder of railroad (railway) locomotives. It was located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania originally, and later in nearby Eddystone, Pennsylvania. Although the company was very successful as a producer of steam locomotives, it was unable to make the transition to diesel power. It stopped producing locomotives in 1956 and went out of business in 1972 (quoted by JSJ from Wikipedia).
If someone who is more knowledgeable than me about this could write a brief synopsis please? It would be great if this had an emphasis on the originals which have resulted in the various garden models. Otherwise for the moment I refer readers to the Wikipedia in the links section below (JSJ).
