Interlocking Explanation (Grant LNR)

It can be seen that moving the lever to the left, would via the actuating arm, move the detector slide also to the left, thereby lining up the hole with the plunger, allowing the
points to be thrown over. I should point out that lever forward, the left in my pics.is signal "on" points set against curved road, pull lever to right, signal "off ". MacKenzie Holland
gear  has three ratchet steps to allow for cable stretch. Also auto cable tensioners were provided for long cable runs.  
 
 
 
I would be very grateful for advice from the group as to where it would be usual to site signals. I assume that any hazard such as station, points, tunnel even viaduct would merit some sort of decision in a single line track.
