Evensford Woodlands

by JSJ
There are two main areas of woodland on the Evensford and Midland Railway.

Short Wood

This is the oldest woodland in the area and the railway passes directly through it.

There is a foot crossing in the wood and many photos are taken as the train pass this point.

Fermyn Wood

This is a larger wood near the top of Evensford Bank.

Much work has been going on to improve the wood. This photograph shows one of the recent additions in the foreground - Sawara Cypress. When trimmed, although it is a conifer, it can look very much like a deciduous tree.

This shows the tree before and after trimming.

Here are three of the new trees next to the line.
